During the August Mini-Term we will have a variety of classes for you to choose from.
Light for the Darkness: Dealing Well with Depression.
Depression affects us all. Whether the darkness has settled on you, a relative, or a friend, we all know someone who is trying to find light in the midst of that darkness. Where does it come from? How should we deal with it? What can it tell us? Is it spiritual, physical, emotional—or all of the above? We will seek to make sense of the complicated and often confusing world of depression while pointing to a God of grace that meets us in the dark and walks us back into the light. This class will be a real encouragement both to those who suffer personally with depression and those who care for someone who does. Guest teacher Rev. Berry Hudson of Hindsight Counseling will be leading this class in the Fellowship Hall.
Theological Foundations for Leaders (TFL)
This class takes a thorough look into the doctrinal distinctives of our church. The goal is that we would be better equipped to understand our faith and in the end have a deepening love for Jesus. TFL is for anyone who seeks to grow in their understanding of theology and it is required for any man nominated to be an officer at New Covenant. John Cook and Stu Sheldon will be leading this class in the Conference Room. (TFL runs From August until November with an additional practicum section in December.)
That the World May Know
That the World May Know is a DVD series including Bible teacher Ray Vander Laan. These sessions take us on a journey into the culture and archaeology behind the Bible in order to help us better understand the text. Rich Weldon will lead this class in the Knox Room.
